The Little Black Dress

Chardonnay is like the little black dress. Classic and sophisticated. You never know when you'll need it and it's always good to have one lying around.

A few weeks ago I was rummaging through my closet in search of the few black items that I own {for a work related event}.  I finally stumbled upon this black number that could easily be dressed up with accessories and bright red lips. Like Chardonnay, the little black dress is right for any occasion. It dresses up casual evenings and makes formal events simply more fun!

In my opinion, there is nothing better than changing a weeknight of staying in into something fun, by enjoying a glass of wine and then slipping into your favorite cocktail dress to go watch a concert at your local venue. In this case, The Uptown Theater is my local hot spot. It’s classy, yet totally relaxed, and is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy some fabulous music. I can’t wait to check out more concerts there over the summer. Ole!

Melon Starburst

Fashion3 Comments

This Spring I’ve been living in dresses despite the temperamental Northern California weather {not that I’m complaining}.  Today was no different and I decided to brighten up my day by wearing this 50’s inspired melon colored halter dress paired with nude colored pumps. This is my idea of dressing for a relaxed Sunday afternoon, spending time with the familia {eating way too much yummy homemade Mexican food}, catching up on home improvement projects and lounging around our comfy and sunlit apartment.  Don’t you love how the simplest things can bring you the most joy?

Farmer's Market Fun in Napa

Travel, Food & Drink2 Comments
Farmers-Market-Fun-in-Napa

Over the weekend my boyfriend and I had a wonderful opportunity to explore one of the first Farmer’s market of the season in Napa {at the Oxbow parking lot}.  Although the sun had disappeared and had been replaced with chilly winds & grey clouds, it was still refreshing to be up and productive on a Saturday morning.

I love farmer’s markets for three reasons: you are able to buy the freshest and most delicious produce {for fairly inexpensive}. Secondly, there are some fabulous independent jewelers that sell unique pieces that no one else will have, {I happened to score a gorgeous brass elephant charm!}. Lastly, there is such a wonderful and positive energy that surrounds you with families and couples looking for nothing more than to enjoy each other’s company, taste a few local treats and go home with a new bag of goodies. You can’t beat that.

Here’s to a productive and happy workweek! Ole!

Guacamole Recipe

Food & DrinkComment
When life gives you lemons… make guacamOLE!

The key to making a well-rounded guacamole is having the perfect amount of acidity, spiciness and texture. I don’t know about you but I like my guacamole fully loaded with red onions, cilantro, tomatoes, jalapenos & more!

Having grown up in a Mexican household, I consider myself a guacamole enthusiast and find any excuse to make a batch and enjoy it with a nice cold beer {a Bohemia to be exact!).

For details on how to make my recipe please check below!

Dalia’s Guacamole

Serves 4-6 people

Ingredients:

  • 4 avocados
  • 3 roma tomatoes
  • 1/2 bunch cilantro
  • 1 red onion
  • 1 Serrano chile
  • *2 pickled jalapeño chiles
  • Lemon juice to taste
  • 1/4 cup of pickled jalapeño juice
  • Tortilla chips or tostadas

*You can find pickled jalapeño cans in most supermarkets or Latino stores

Directions:

Cut the avocado lengthwise, take out the pit and spoon out the meat of the avocado. Slightly mash the avocado and squeeze some lemon juice over the top (so that the avocado won’t brown). Finely chop all of the ingredients and add them to a bowl. Don’t mix ingredients until you’re ready to serve. Add salt and pepper to taste and serve with chips or tostadas! Pair with a nice cold Bohemia cerveza or your favorite *Chardonnay! Ole!

*Favorite wine pairing: Ceja Vineyards Chardonnay

The Blue Dress

Fashion2 Comments

I absolutely love a juxtaposition {especially} when old meets new. In this case, I’m referring to my blue dress and 70’s cowboy boots in comparison to the Victorian house behind me {that was built in 1896}. It’s remarkable to see that we’ve gone through several eras of fashion and the house is still standing, as well as several fashion trends. So what era am I? I’m a combination of a few and consider my style everyday Bohemian Chic. You will soon find out that I have a dress and color obsession, which expresses my love of fashion and the ability to combine old styles with new trends.
