At such a surreal time in history, one of the happy distractions that has brought me joy has been designing and decorating the little lady’s nursery. Thank you husband for building all of the furniture and patiently seeing my vision come to life!
I opted for soft blush and pastels colors to compliment the grey furniture and white walls. For those that know me, you understand my passion for bright colors, but we wanted to keep the modern esthetic of our new home alone. At first I considered floral wall paper, but then decided that rose gold dot decals would add a sweet pop of color to originally stark bare walls. I’m so glad I went in this direction and love the outcome!
Sincerest thanks to our thoughtful family and friends who gifted us so many darling items for the nursery and the little lady. The sweet Pottery Barn zoo animals tied in the overall theme of soft girly tones + animal accents. Some of our dear family members made her handmade quilts + a cheerful pastel tassel garland that hang over the crib. Her little wardrobe is also a favorite section in the room and I can’t wait to dress her in so many of the colorful Mexican dresses that my mom got for her in Mexico. Lastly, we were overjoyed to have received a diverse selection of bilingual baby books in Spanish that educate and promote women empowerment, equality, ending racism, and the importance of love. We look forward to sharing these stories of strength with our daughter, who we know will grow up and make a difference in this world.
I find myself sitting in her room, imagining her here in a safe and happy place. It’s probably my favorite room in the house and makes me so excited of finally having her home with us! Gahhhh, it still blows my mind that we are going to be parents. So surreal and such a blessing at the same time. I hope everyone can find pockets of joy and comfort as our nation continues to face such somber and challenging days.
